Peas masala or matar masala gravy is a lipsmacking, rich creamy Indian gravy variety made with green peas n ground tomato, onion and cashew paste. It is a very simple recipe and can be done quickly in a pressure cooker. Check out the recipe below.

Ingredients

Peas ( fresh / frozen ) -1 1/2 cups
Cashew paste -2 tbsps
Red chilly powder -1 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder -1 tsp
Cumin powder -1 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar -1 tsp
Fresh cream -1 tbsp
Cinnamon,cloves,cardamom,bay leaf -2 nos each
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Ghee / oil -1 tbsp
Coriander leaves few

Grind Together-

Onion -3 nos
Tomatoes -6 nos
Green chillies -2 nos

Method

👉Grind the ingredients given under Grind together to a fine paste( do not add water ). Set aside.

👉Heat ghee/ oil in a pressure cooker add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf, cumin seeds, and allow it to crackle.

👉Add the ground paste and sauté for 2 mins.

👉Add red chilly powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder,garam masala powder and saute for few seconds.

👉Add green peas, salt and required water just enough to cover the peas. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.




👉Release the pressure and again keep on the gas and add cashew paste, sugar, mix well bring to a boil and adjust the consistency according to your taste preference.



👉Garnish with fresh cream and coriander leaves.

Preparation Time -20 mins.
