DOSAKAI CHUTNEY / Dosakaya Pachadi

Dosakai chutney or dosakaya pachadi is a traditional Andhra delicacy.Dosakai/dosakaya is a round shaped yellow cucumber.It is usually used in making sambar, dal (called dosakaya pappu),soup, pickle etc.check out how to make this delicious chutney below.

Ingredients

Dosakai -1 big seeded and chopped 
Onion-1 no chopped 
Tomatoes-2 nos chopped
Green chillies- 6-8 nos
Garlic -6 nos
Tamarind small gooseberry sized
Cumin seeds-2 Tsps
Red chilly powder- 1/2 Tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 Tsp
Urad dal-1 Tsp
Curry leaves and coriander leaves few
Salt to taste
Oil-2 Tsp

Method

👉Scrape the outer skin of the dosakai,remove the seeds and dice the dosakai into random cubes.set aside.
👉Heat oil in a kadai add 1 tsp cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic, few curry leaves and saute well.

👉Next, add dosakai, tomatoes, tamarind and fry well until the dosakaya cooks.


👉Grind everything to a fine paste along with half a tsp of red chilly powder and required salt (just sprinkle water for grinding).


👉Now again heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, red chillies, curry leaves, onions and saute well then add the ground paste, little water and allow the chutney to thicken.


👉Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa etc.
