How to make Seeraga samba pongal in pressure cooker
Seeraga samba pongal is a delicious south Indian pongal variety made with aromatic seeraga samba rice .This recipe is just like making regular pongal but here instead of raw rice we use seeraga samba rice to get more flavour.I have cooked this pongal in pressure cooker .Check out the recipe below.Ingredients
Seeraga samba rice -1 cupGreen gram dal -1/2 cup
Green chillies -2 nos chopped
Ginger -1 inch piece chopped fine
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Pepper -1 tsp
Cashew-few
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves few
Salt to taste
Ghee -2 tbsps
Method
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker add cumin seeds,pepper,cashews ,curry leaves and saute for 2 mins until the cashews turn golden colour.Now add the seeraga samba rice,green gram dal,turmeric powder,salt and saute for few seconds.
Add 6 cups of water .Close the cooker and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
Allow the pressure to release .Mash the pongal well.Again drizzle ghee on top.
Serve hot with chutney ,garlic thokku or tomato chutney .Enjoy
