Vendakkai rasam | Ladies Finger rasam
Ingredients
Ladies finger -3 -4 nos choppedTamarind extract from small lemon sized tamarind
Asafetida a pinch
Salt to taste
Jaggery a small piece
Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Red chillies -2 nos broken
Oil -1 tsp
Curry leaves and coriander leaves few
For Rasam powder-
Cumin seeds -1 tspPeppercorns -1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds -1 tbsp
Toor dhal -1 tsp
Red chillies -2-4 nos
Garlic - 4 cloves
Method
👉Wash and cut the ladies finger to desired shape.👉Dry roast the ingredients given under rasam powder and grind to coarse powder.set aside.
👉In a vessel add the tamarind extract ,turmeric powder,salt, required water mix well and keep it ready.
👉Now heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,red chillies, curry leaves and asafetida allow it to crackle.
👉Add the ladies finger and saute well until it's 3/4 th done.
👉Once the ladies finger is done pour the tamarind mixture and allow it to boil for 5 mins.
👉Finally add the freshly ground rasam powder and mix well allow it to boil for just 2 mins.
👉Add jaggery mix well and garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot .
