Navathaniya Sundal | Nine Grains Sundal

Navathaniya sundal | Nine Grains sundal

Navathaniyam Sundal is one of the most protein rich Sundal varieties to make during Navratri festival. Navathaniyam in Tamil means 9 grains or legumes . You can use any nine legumes of your choice here I have used store bought navathaniyam which had black channa , white channa, dried green peas, rajma, Horse gram, white lobia, dried field beans, moong beans and white dried peas. Preparing this nine grains Sundal is very easy the only pre preparation required is soaking the grains overnight. Then next day before preparing this Sundal make sure to wash the grains well again and discard the soaked water because using this water make cause stomach problems for some people. Now pressure cook it with just enough water to cover the grains for 3 whistles then drain the water . Now temper it with spices and give the Sundal a good toss and check for seasonings, finally add grated coconut and garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
