Dried peas sundal  | Kainda pattani sundal

Kainda pattani sundal also known as dried peas sundal is a healthy delicious and traditional South Indian Sundal variety made during Navratri festival. It is made using dried green peas which is soaked overnight and then cooked and tempered with spices and garnished with freshly grated coconut. Check out how to make this recipe below.

Ingredients

Dried peas-1 cup washed and soaked overnight 
Mustard seeds-1/2  tsp
Urud dhal-1 tsp
Grated coconut-1 tbsp
Green chillies-3 nos chopped 
Ginger-1 inch piece chopped 
Asafoetida a pinch
Salt to taste
Oil-1 tsp
Curry leaves and coriander leaves few

Method

👉Wash and soak the dried peas overnight.
👉Pressure cook it along with salt and just enough water to cover the peas for 3 whistles , drain the water and set aside.
👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds, urud dhal, green chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves, ginger and saute for a minute, then add the cooked peas followed by grated coconut, mix everything well and check for salt.Garnish and serve.


Note
✍️You can add raw mango pieces, grated carrots to this sundal and its also a very famous variety called THENGAI MANGA PATTANI SUNDAL or locally known as Beach sundal in Tamil Nadu .
