Kollu Sundal or Horse gram sundal is a protein rich delicious sundal variety made during Navratri festival. This sundal is made with horse gram also known as Kollu in Tamil as the main ingredient and mixed with spices and coarsely ground special coconut, red chilli and ginger powder and seasoned with salt.

Kollu is a potent legume that is rich in protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals like Calcium and iron and antioxidants.

Ingredients

Kollu(horse gram)-1 cup
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Urud dhal-1 tsp
Asafetida-a pinch
Salt to taste
Oil-1 tsp

For Powder-Grind Coarsely 

Grated coconut-1 tbsp
Red chillies-3 nos
Ginger-1 inch piece
Cumin seeds/jeera-1 tsp

Method

👉Wash and soak the kollu / horse gram overnight.
👉Pressure cook it along with salt and just enough water to cover the kollu for 3 whistles.drain the water and set the horsegram aside.
👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds,urud dhal , asafoetida, curry leaves allow it to splutter.
👉Add the cooked horse gram,followed by the powdered mixture. Mix everything well.
👉Check for salt.Garnish and serve.
