Mullangi Carrot Puttu | Radish Carrot Puttu



Mullangi Carrot puttu is a delectable mildly spiced Tamil Nadu style Poriyal variety(we call it puttu) made with radish (Mullangi in Tamil) and carrots spiced with green chilies.The main hero ingredient of the recipe is the powdered fried gram or pottukadalai which we add at last and is a must for this recipe as it enhances the flavour of the dish.This is a traditional recipe and can be done very quickly. Ingredients 

Radish -2 nos peeled and grated

Carrot -2 nos peeled and grated 

Onion-1 no finely chopped 

Green chillies- 2-3 nos finely chopped 

Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp 

Urad dal -1 Tsp 

Fried gram (pottukadalai)-1-2 Tbsps (powdered finely )

Salt to taste

Curry leaves and coriander leaves few

Oil -2 Tsps

Method 

👉Peel, wash and grate the radish and carrots, set aside.



👉Finely powder the fried gram (pottukadalai ) and set aside.



👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds , urad dal and allow it to turn light golden brown, then add curry leaves and  green chilies and allow it to splutter.



👉Add onions and sauté until half done.





👉Add the grated radish and carrots and sauté for a minute, sprinkle water and cook covered for 5 minutes.






👉Once done add in the required amount of salt.mix well and cook covered for a minute.





👉Now finally add the fried gram powder , mix well and sauté in medium flame for a minute.





👉Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the gas.





👉Serve hot .

Note

✍️You can use Knol kohl instead of radish .
