Knol khol carrot peas porial is a delicious and healthy South Indian style poriyal (stir fry ) variety which is very easy to make.
Knol khol also called Kohlrabi is high in dietary fibre and rich in Vitamins like A,E,C and B complex vitamins.It is also very rich antioxidants. It is low in calories too. It contains calcium, magnesium,iron and phosphorus.

I have prepared this recipe in pressure cooker as it hastens the process of cooking.
If you want to cook in kadai you can do that too,you can do the tempering first then add veggies sprinkle little water and cover cook until the veggies are done finally add grated coconut and serve hot.

Ingredients

Knol khol -1 cup chopped
Carrot -1/2 cup chopped
Peas -1/4 cup
Onion -2 nos chopped
Garlic -4 nos chopped fine
Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
Red chilli powder-3/4-1 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsps
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli-2 nos
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Curry leaves-few
Grated coconut-2 Tbsps
Oil -2-3 tsps

Method

1.In a pressure cooker add knol khol,carrots,peas and add 1/2-3/4 cup of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Switch off the gas and allow the pressure to subside.

 2.Drain the water from the veggies and you can use the water in rasam or drink it as soup. Set the veggies aside.

3.Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds,urad dal, cumin seeds,curry leaves,red chillies and allow it to splutter.Add garlic and onions and saute well.
Add ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds.

4.Now add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder,salt and saute for few seconds in medium flame.

5.Add the cooked veggies and mix everything gently.

6.Continue to saute the veggies for 5 mins in medium flame .

7.Finally add grated coconut and remove from fire.
