Lemon semiya | Lemon vermicelli upma recipe

Lemon semiya upma or lemon vermicelli upma

Lemon Semiya Upma, also known as Lemon Vermicelli Upma, is a flavorful, tangy, and easy-to-make breakfast dish that’s perfect for busy mornings. This quick recipe brings together the goodness of roasted semiya (vermicelli) with a zesty lemony twist, making it both refreshing and satisfying.

The preparation begins with roasting semiya or vermicelli in a pan until it’s lightly golden. This step enhances the flavor and texture. Once the semiya is roasted, it’s cooked in boiling water along with a pinch of salt until it’s tender and cooked through. After cooking, the vermicelli is drained to remove any excess water.

Next comes the tempering, which is key to infusing the dish with flavor. In a pan, oil is heated, and peanuts, cashews, and green chilies are sautéed until they turn golden brown. This gives the upma a nice crunch and adds richness. Once the nuts and chilies are cooked, the drained vermicelli is added to the pan along with a dash of turmeric powder and salt to taste. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly, ensuring the vermicelli is evenly coated with the spices.

The final touch is the addition of freshly squeezed lemon juice, which imparts a tangy zing and brightens up the entire dish. After mixing everything together, the Lemon Semiya Upma is ready to be served hot, offering a delightful balance of savory, crunchy, and tangy flavors.

This dish is not only quick and easy to prepare but also customizable. You can adjust the number of chilies for heat, or add vegetables for a more wholesome meal. Perfect for breakfast or as a snack, Lemon Semiya Upma is a delicious and fuss-free option that can be made in no time! Check out the detailed recipe below to make this delicious dish.
