Pasala keerai thokku/ spinach chutney/palak chutney is a nutritious and tasty south Indian thokku /chutney variety prepared by sauteing pasala keerai (spinach) along with spices and grinding to a fine paste. Then this paste is again cooked for few minutes along with tempering for an enhanced taste. Ingredients
Pasala keerai /Spinach -1 bunch choppedUrud dal -1 tbsp
Bengal gram dal - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Coriander seeds -2 tbsps
Garlic -6 cloves
Red chillies -5-6 nos
Tamarind small goose berry sized
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
Red chilly -1 no broken
Oil -1 tbsp
Method
👉Heat oil in a kadai add urad dal,bengal gram dal, coriander seeds, garlic, red chillies and sauté well. remove from the fire set aside.👉Now sauté the palak( spinach) for few minutes until they become soft.
👉First dry grind the dal mixture once then add palak, tamarind, salt, turmeric powder and little water and grind everything to a fine paste.
👉Pour the ground paste. Rinse the mixie jar with little water and add the water to the paste mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens and colour changes to dark green. Remove from fire.
👉Serve .
