Rava Murukku | Sooji Chakli
Rava murukku/sooji chakli is a very tasty and easy to make instant murukku/chakli variety.It is made by cooking the rava/ sooji along with spices,butter etc and mixing with processed rice flour to form a dough, shapped to murukkus then deep fried in oil. Try this delicious crispy murukku for Krishna Jayanthi festival.
Ingredients
Rava/ semolina-1/2 cup
Processed Rice flour -1 cup
Red chilly powder -1/2-3/4 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Ajwain -1/2 tsp
Ajwain -1/2 tsp
Sesame seeds ( til / ellu) -1 tsp
Asafetida a pinch
Salt to taste
Butter -1 tbsp
Oil for deep frying
Method
👉Dry roast the rava for few seconds set aside.
👉Boil 2 cups of water in a kadai add rava,butter,red chilly powder,cumin seeds,sesame seeds ,ajwain and cook till the rawa is done and all the water is completely absorbed.Remove from fire and allow it to cool a bit.
👉Now add processed rice flour to rava mixture in batches and mix well. sprinkle water if needed or add slightly hot oil and make a soft dough (neither hard nor too soft ).
👉Grease the murukku maker with oil fix in the star acchu (mould) .
👉Fill the murukku maker with dough.

👉Press to murukku shapes on to a plate or plastic sheet.
👉Heat oil for deep frying.
👉Now gently slide the murukku into the hot oil and fry until a golden brown colour is reached and the oil stops bubbling.
👉Drain the excess oil using a tissue paper.
Allow the murukus to cool down completely and then store in air tight container.
