Palkova


Palkova is a very traditional Indian milk sweet made with milk and sugar. Though it is a very easy sweet to make it takes a long time to cook. Palkova is one of the important neivedanam (offering) for Lord Krishna on Janmastami festival. Check out how to make this traditional palkova recipe below.

Ingredients

High-fat Milk -1 litre
Sugar -1/4 cup
Ghee -2 tbsps
Cardamom powder -1/4 tsp
Saffron few sprigs (optional)

Method

👉In a heavy bottom vessel or non stick kadai add high fat milk and boil it.



👉Continue boiling the milk in medium flame until it reduces in quantity and thickens. Make sure to scrape and collect the cream that forms on the sides of the kadai and mix it with boiling milk.
👉Add sugar, ghee and cardamom powder at this stage and continue to cook as the sugar will melt and the mixture will become a bit watery again.



👉Once the milk is condensed well and forms a thick mass of  khoya remove from fire.It will take around 45 minutes to get khoya.


👉Garnish with few sprigs of saffron.
👉Serve.
