deepavali-legiyum-diwali-marundu

This Deepavali legiyum is an essential part of South Indian tradition, it is as important as the sweets and snacks which we make during the festive season. This Diwali marundu is a special mixture of medicinal spices blended together with jaggery .
On Diwali morning after taking bath and before food take a spoonful of this legiyum.it prevents gastric problems and aids in easy digestion.
I have posted the easiest method to make the marundu with available spices at home.

Ingredients

Peppercorns-2 tsps
Ajwain-2 tsps
Dry ginger powder-2 tsps
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Cardamom-5 nos
Cloves-1 tsp
Grated Jaggery- 1/2 cup
Ghee+ gingelly oil-1 tbsp

Method

👉Dry roast all the ingredients(except Jaggery) powder  and sieve it and set aside.

👉Dissolve the jaggery in 1/4 cup water ,bring it to boil strain it to remove impurities and again put it back on heat now bring it to one string consistency.
👉Now mix the ground powder to the jaggery then add ghee+ oil .
👉Remove from fire, allow it to cool.store in dry airtight container.

Note-

✍️ I have made this legiyum using the ingredients available at home we still have to add kandamthippili (long pepper),sitharatai.
✍️Always use a dry spoon .
