Pachai Payaru Thuvaiyal is a delicious traditional South Indian Thuvaiyal thick chutney variety that is made using whole moong dal , grated coconut, ginger, garlic, shallots and red chillies .

This dish is a popular recipe in Tamil Nadu, where it is often served as a side dish for  rice, idli, dosa, and other South Indian delicacies.

Pachai Payaru Thuvaiyal is easy to make and requires minimal ingredients..The dish is made by first dry roasting the whole moong dal or green gram dal until golden brown colour and then blended with other ingredients to a thick paste consistency.

Green gram dal or paasi Payaru (in Tamil ), the primary ingredient in Pachai Payaru Thuvaiyal, are a great source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Ingredients -

Whole moong dal/Pachai Payaru -1/2 cup

Small onions -4-6 nos

Ginger-1 inch piece

Garlic -4 nos 

Red chillies -4-6 nos 

Tamarind -small goose berry sized

Grated Coconut -2 Tbsps

Curry leaves-few

Salt- to taste 

Oil-1 Tsp

Method 


👉Dry roast the whole moong dal or Pachai Payaru in medium flame for 4-5 minutes until golden brown colour.Transfer to mixie jar and allow it to cool.


👉Next heat a Tsp of oil in the same pan and sauté the ginger, garlic, small onions, red chillies, tamarind, curry leaves and grated coconut and transfer to the mixie jar and allow it to cool.


👉Now add required salt and little water and grind all the ingredients together to a smooth thick paste consistency.




👉Serve with rice,idli, dosa etc
