Raw mango curry, also known as "Pacha Manga Curry", is a tangy and spicy dish that is popular in South Indian cuisine especially in Kerala . This flavorful dish is made with raw mangoes (unripe mango) and

special coconut paste . Raw mangoes are known for their tart and sour flavor, which pairs perfectly with the spices and coconut paste used in this recipe.

Kerala style raw mango curry is a vegetarian dish that is often served as a side dish with rice or  idli , dosa, Idiyappam, appam, poori etc..It is a staple in many households during the mango season, which typically runs from April to June. This dish is easy to prepare and requires only a few ingredients, making it a quick and tasty option for busy days.

To prepare the raw mango curry, the raw mangoes are peeled and cut into small pieces. They are then cooked in a kadai along with a mixture of shallots , turmeric powder green chilies and water.Then the ground coconut paste (which is a blend of cumin seeds, shallots ,red chilli powder, garlic and grated coconut)is added to the cooked mangoes and simmered to desired consistency finally tempered with spices and served hot.The addition of coconut  gives the curry a creamy texture and balances out the sourness of the mangoes.

Raw mango curry is not only delicious, but it also has several health benefits. Mangoes are rich in vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system, and fiber, which aids in digestion. Ingredients

Raw mango-1 cup (peeled and diced to cubes) 

Small onions-8-10 nos

Green chillies -2 nos (slit lengthwise) 

Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp 

Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp 

Red chillies-2 nos 

Curry leaves few

Salt to taste 

Coconut oil -1 Tbsp 

For Masala 

Cumin seeds-1 tsp 

Garlic-4 nos 

Small onions-4-6 nos

Red chilli powder-1 tsp

Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp 

Grated coconut-1/2 cup

Method 


👉Wash peel and cut the raw mango into cubes. 



👉Grind the ingredients given for masala to a paste adding little water.set aside .



👉In a kadai add the raw mangoes, shallots, green chilies, turmeric powder and required water just enough to cover the mangoes and cook covered for 5 minutes or until the mangoes are done.



👉Now once the mangoes are cooked add in the ground paste, required salt and water mix well and allow the curry to boil until the raw smell goes and gravy thickens to desired consistency.






👉Meanwhile in a tadka pan heat coconut oil add mustard seeds, red chillies, few shallots , curry leaves and allow it to splutter finally add red chilli powder and switch off the gas , add this tempering immediately to the raw mango curry and mix well and then switch off the gas.





👉Serve hot with steamed rice, idli, dosa, Idiyappam, appam, poori etc..
