Drumstick Mor Kulambu

Mor Kuzhambu is a delicious traditional South Indian Kulambu or Kuzhambu variety made with curd, special coconut paste and veggies of your choice. This curd based curry is traditionally made with vegetables like ladies finger, ashgourd, yam etc.here I have made it with drumsticks. There are many variations of this recipe across India , it is very similar Kadhi recipe in North India . Moreover in Kerala it is called Moru Curry whereas in Tamil Nadu it is known as Mor Kuzhambu . This buttermilk Kulambu or Mor Kuzhambu is usually served with steamed rice. You can adjust the consistency of the Mor Kulambu according to your taste preferences , it can be watery or thick, so make sure to whisk the curd and also add water accordingly . For Masala 

Cumin seeds -1 Tsp 

Ginger-1 inch piece

Green chillies -3-4 nos

Toor dal -1 Tbsp 

Grated coconut-2 Tbsps 

Other ingredients 

Drumsticks -1 no 

Curd -2 cups

Turmeric powder-1/2 Tsp 

Mustard seeds -1/2 Tsp 

Fenugreek seeds -1/4 Tsp

Salt to taste 

Curry leaves few

Asafoetida -1/4 Tsp 

Oil-1 Tsp

👉Grind the ingredients given under For Masala to a fine paste adding very little water.

👉In a mixing bowl add curd , turmeric powder and 1/4 cup water and whisk lightly set aside .

👉Pressure cook the drumsticks adding just enough water to cover it for 2 whistles set aside.

👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds red chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida and allow it to splutter.

👉Add the ground paste along with little water and sauté for a minute in medium flame.

👉Add the drumsticks along with the cooked water mix well.

👉Add required salt mix well.

👉Finally add the whipped curd and 1/2 cup water mix well and bring to a boil until frothy immediately switch off the gas.
