Pattani masala poriyal or green peas masala stir fry


Green peas masala stir fry, also known as pattani masala poriyal, is a tasty, nutritious, and simple South Indian style poriyal or stir fry. Unlike standard poriyals (which are bland and mildly spicy), this poriyal/stir fry is made with a special masala powder made with spices, onion, and coconut. It tastes pretty good with chapati, sambar, rasam, curd rice, and other Indian dishes. You can even use it as a filling for peas masala dosas, samosas, or stuffed chapatis or parathas. Follow the steps below to make this delicious spicy green peas masala stir fry or pattani masala poriyal.

Ingredients

Green peas-1 1/2cups (boiled) 

Onion-1 no finely chopped 

Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp 

Urad dal-1 tsp 

Red chilli-1 no

Grated coconut-1 Tbsp

Curry leaves and coriander leaves few 

Salt to taste

Oil -1 tsp


For Masala-(Grind coarsely without adding water)

Cinnamon stick-1-2 nos

Cumin seeds-1 tsp 

Fennel seeds-1 tsp 

Red chillies-5 nos 

Onion-1 no

Grated coconut-2 Tbsps

Method

👉Boil the green peas drain the water and set the peas aside. (Note -Frozen peas can also be used and can be added as such no need to boil it)



👉Grind the ingredients given For masala coarsely without adding any water set aside.First powder the spices and then add onion and coconut.


👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilli and curry leaves and allow it to splutter.


👉Add the onion and saute well until it turns translucent.


👉Now add the ground masala and saute for 2 mins in medium flame .



👉Add required salt mix well.


👉After few minutes the colour changes and raw smell goes.


👉Next add the cooked peas and sauté for 2-4 mins.(Note -if using frozen peas add it now)



👉Garnish with coriander leaves and grated coconut, mix well and switch off the gas, serve hot.





Note -

✍️Using the same masala you can try with any veggies like potatoes,carrot,cabbage,chow chow, capsicum etc..
