Onion pakoda / onion pakoras

Vengaya pakoda or Onion pakoda or onion pakoras is a crispy, crunchy and yummy traditional Indian tea time snack made with onions, besan flour and spices. It is very easy to make and can be prepared in a jiffy. Learn how to make this delicious onion pakoda recipe below.

Ingredients

Besan flour -1 cup
Rice flour -1/4 cup
Onion -1 no big (diced to thin lengthy slices) or 2 medium-sized
Red chilly powder -1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds -1-2 tsp
Curry leaves few
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying

Method

👉 In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients and sprinkle water little by little and combine everything together so that they stick to each other, make sure you don't add to much water (as onions will release water too).

👉Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying.
 👉Now take a handful of dough and drop it in hot oil little by little. Cook in low flame until the colour changes to golden brown and oil stops bubbling. Drain the pakodas in tissue paper to remove excess oil.

👉Serve hot with tomato sauce.
