Pancharatna Dal | Panchmel Dal
Ingredients
Toor dal -2 tbspsBengal gram dal -2 tbsps
Green gram dal -2 tbsps
Whole black gram dal -2 tbsps
Masoor dal -2 tbsps
Tomato -1 no chopped fine
Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp
Red chilly powder -1/4 tsp
Dhaniya powder -1 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Green chillies -2 nos slit
Red chillies -2 nos broken
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Cinnamon,cloves,cardamom -2 nos each
Peppercorns -1/4 tsp
Coriander leaves few chopped
Salt to taste
Ghee -1 tbsp
Method
👉Wash and soak the dals together for 1 hour.👉Pressure cook for 3 whistles by adding enough water to cover the dal , mash lightly, set aside.
👉Heat ghee in a kadai add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamon, peppercorns, red chillies and allow it to crackle.
👉Add green chillies, ginger garlic paste sauté for few seconds, add red chilly powder, turmeric powder,dhaniya powder and sauté well until oil oozes on top.
👉Next, add tomatoes and cook until they are mushy.
👉Add cooked dal, salt, mix well and bring to a boil.
👉Garnish and serve hot with chapati, poori, rice ,dosa, appam etc.
