Ingredients

Tamarind extract-from gooseberry sized tamarind
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Asafetida -a pinch
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Red chillies-1 no broken
Curry leaves and coriander leaves few
Ghee-1 tsp

Masala Powder
Pepper -1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Dhaniya seeds-2 tsps
Red chillies-3 nos
Ginger-1 inch piece
Garlic-4 cloves
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Asafetida-a pinch
Karpooravalli leaves/ ajwain leaves-5 nos(add finally while roasting)

Method

👉Roast the ingredients given under Masala Powder in 1/2 tsp oil for a minute untuk you get nice aroma and powder it coarsely set aside.

👉Heat ghee in a kadai add mustard seeds ,cumin seeds,red chillies,curry leaves, asafetida and allow it to splutter .

👉Add tamarind extract,turmeric powder and ground mixture .

👉Add required amount of water and dilute the rasam .Now add salt and bring the rasam to a boil ,once it becomes frothy remove from fire.Garnish and serve hot.

👉Yummy and healthy karpooravalli rasam is ready.
