Onion Gothsu

This onion gothsu or vengaya gosthu is an absolutely delicious and very handy recipe for busy days,its different,simple and easy to make
.This gosthu is a combination of sweet,spicy and tangy .It is a superb side dish for idli,dosa,poori,chapati,pongal etc .It can be stored for 2-3 days.Check out the recipe below.

Ingredients

Onions-3-4 nos chopped
Thick tamarind extract-1/4 cup
Red chilly powder -1 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Gingelly oil -1-2 tbsps
Salt to taste
Jaggery /Sugar-1 tsp
Curry leaves a few

Method 

👉Heat gingelly oil in a kadai,add mustard seeds,curry leaves and allow it to splutter next add chopped onion and saute for few mins until the onions are half cooked.

👉Next add the red chilly powder,tamarind extract and salt.


👉Add 3/4 th cup water and allow the mixture to cook until raw smell goes and becomes thick.

👉Finally add jaggery or sugar mix well.


👉Serve hot with idli ,dosa,poori or chappati.

Preparation time -10 mins.

Note

✍️Use only gingelly oil as it enhances the flavor.
✍️Use thick tamarind extract because if it's watery the gosthu won't blend properly (onions and water will be separated)
✍️Add jaggery or sugar for this recipe.
