Sundakkai Thuvaiyal is a delicious spicy tangy traditional South Indian Thuvaiyal or Chutney variety that is made with sundakkai or turkey berry,  along with

other ingredients such as urad dal ,tamarind, red chili, coconut and salt .This Sundakkai thuvaiyal is tangy and spicy, with a unique flavor that is both savory and slightly bitter.

Sundakkai Thuvaiyal is typically served as a side dish with rice, idli, dosa, and other traditional South Indian dishes. It is also known to be a great appetizer which can be enjoyed with hot steaming rice.

The sundakkai plant is known for its medicinal properties, and is believed to be beneficial for various health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and digestive disorders. The thuvaiyal is also rich in antioxidants and is believed to boost the immune system.

Ingredients 

Sundakkai (turkey berry)-1/2 cup
Urad dal-2 Tsps 
Garlic - 4 cloves 
Red chillies -4-5 nos
Grated coconut-1-2 Tbsps
Tamarind - a small goose berry sized
Salt to taste 
Oil -2 Tsps

Method 

👉Heat oil in a pan add urad and roast to light golden brown colour now add red chillies, garlic and sauté for 2-4 minutes,remove from fire and transfer to mixie jar .


👉In the same pan add another Tsp of oil and sauté the Sundakkai in medium heat until the colour changes and becomes soft, finally add grated coconut and sauté for few seconds and switch off the gas and transfer to the mixie jar. 








👉Allow the ingredients to cool down add tamarind, salt and very little water and grind to a fine paste. 







👉Serve with steamed rice or idli, dosa etc..
