Karamani Kollu Podi Sundal | Lobia Horse gram dal powder sundal

Karamani kollu podi sundal or black eyed peas horsegram dal powder sundal is a delicious and super healthy protein rich sundal variety to make during Navratri festival.
This is my own version of the sundal. Generally we make sundal podi and add it to the sundal here I have used Kollu podi(horsegram dal powder).It tastes yummy.You can make this kollu powder in large quantity and add it to any sundal variety.Do try this different sundal variety for this Navratri festival. Ingredients

For Kollu Podi/ Horse gram dal powder -

Horsegram (kollu) -2 Tbsps
Bengal gram dal-2 tsps
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Pepper-1/2 tsp
Red chillies-4-5 nos
Asafoetida

Other ingredients-

Karamani(Lobia/Black eyed peas)-1 cup
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Ginger-1 tsp
Red chillies-2 nos
Curry Leaves
Asafoetida
Grated coconut-1-2 Tbsps
Salt
Oil-2 tsps

Method

👉Dry roast all the ingredients given under kollu podi ,cool and powder it finely.set aside.




👉Wash and soak the karamani overnight or atleast 6 hours.

👉Drain the water completely and add the karamani to the pressure cooker.


👉Add 1 1/2 cups of water and required salt and pressure cook for 1-2 whistles.Make sure you do not overcook the karamani. Drain the water and set the karamani aside.





👉Heat oil in a kadai add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, red chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves and ginger and allow it to splutter.

👉Add the cooked karamani and extra salt if needed.


👉Add 1-2 tsps of kollu podi or horsegram dal powder and mix well.(Store the extra powder in airtight container for future use).Saute for 2-4 mins.




👉Add grated coconut mix well.


👉Remove from fire and serve hot.
