Mambazha Pulissery- A Delicious Classic Kerala Style Mango Curry

Mambazha Pulissery is a traditional Kerala mango curry recipe that perfectly balances sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. Made with ripe mangoes, tamarind, and a special coconut-based masala paste, this dish is a celebration of seasonal mangoes. It is a must-try for anyone who loves experimenting with regional Indian flavors. Pulicheri, a type of curry often served as part of a Kerala Sadya (feast), is cherished for its vibrant flavors and unique taste.

This dish beautifully highlights the natural sweetness of ripe mangoes, which is enhanced by the tanginess of tamarind and the richness of the coconut paste. The spices, including cumin and green chilies, add an irresistible depth of flavor, making it a perfect accompaniment to steamed rice or even dosa.

Health Benefits of Mambazha Pulissery

1. Ripe Mangoes: Packed with vitamins A and C, ripe mangoes are great for boosting immunity and promoting healthy skin. Their natural sweetness also makes this dish a wholesome treat.
2. Tamarind: Known for its digestive properties, tamarind adds a tangy kick while improving gut health.
3. Coconut: Rich in healthy fats, coconut provides energy and adds a creamy texture to the dish.
4. Spices: Ingredients like cumin and turmeric not only enhance flavor but also come with anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits.

Tips for Making the Perfect Mambazha Pulissery

1. Choose the Right Mangoes: Use fully ripe, juicy mangoes for the best flavor. Alphonso or Banganapalli mangoes work wonderfully for this recipe.
2. Adjust the Sweetness: Depending on the sweetness of your mangoes, you can tweak the quantity of tamarind to balance the flavors.
3. Consistency: Keep the curry slightly thick to enjoy its rich texture. However, if serving with rice, you can thin it out by adding a little water.
4. Enhance the Flavor: Tempering with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chilies in coconut oil adds a traditional Kerala touch to the dish.
5. Serving Suggestions: Serve Mambazham Pulicheri hot with steamed rice, papad, and a simple stir-fried vegetable side dish for a complete meal.
