Sundal powder,sundal podi

Sundal Powder, also known as Sundal Podi, is a quintessential and traditional South Indian spice mix used to enhance the flavor of various Sundal recipes, especially during the Navaratri festival. Sundal is a popular dish made with legumes like chickpeas, green gram, or black-eyed peas, and this flavorful podi elevates the dish with its aromatic spices and vibrant taste.

The preparation of Sundal Powder involves roasting and grinding a blend of spices such as dried red chilies, coriander seeds, cumin, and curry leaves. Some recipes also include a hint of asafoetida (hing) for added flavor. This aromatic spice mix not only enhances the taste of Sundal but also gives it a distinct South Indian touch, making it a favorite during festive occasions and beyond.

Sundal Podi is versatile and can be used in a variety of Sundal dishes, whether sweet or savory. It is easy to make, can be stored in an airtight container for weeks, and serves as a quick and flavorful seasoning. Whether you’re preparing Sundal as a Navaratri prasadam or a healthy protein-rich snack, this traditional podi ensures the dish is bursting with flavor.
