Cauliflower Gravy | Gobi Masala


Cauliflower gravy or Gobi masala is a delectable North Indian gravy variety made with gobi or cauliflower and a rich masala paste.This gravy goes very well with chapati,poori,peas pulov etc.. Check out how to make this delicious and rich gobi masala or cauliflower gravy recipe below.


Cauliflower -1 no (medium sized)
Onion- 2 nos chopped
Red chilly powder-1 tsp
Kashmiri chilly powder -1/2 tsp
Dhaniya powder -2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder -1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds (sombu)-1 tsp
Salt to taste 
Oil-2 tbsps
Coriander leaves few

Grind Together

Cloves -4 nos
Cardamon-1 no
Bay leaf -1 no
Onion -2 nos
Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp
Tomatoes -3 nos
Green chillies -1 no
Cashews -few


👉Heat 1 tsp oil in a kadai add the ingredients given for grinding and saute them well sprinkle water, cover the kadai and cook until the onion and tomatoes are mushy ,cool and grind to a fine paste (DO NOT ADD WATER FOR GRINDING).
Set aside.

👉Cut the cauliflower into medium sized florets wash them well and set aside.
👉Heat oil in a pressure cooker add fennel seeds, onion and saute well.

👉Next add the dry powders -red chilly powder,turmeric powder,dhania powder,garam masala powder , kashmiri chilly powder saute well for 1 minute .

👉Add the ground paste and saute well for 2 mins until the oil oozes on top.

👉Now add the cauliflower florets mix well with the masala.Add salt.

👉Add required water just enough to cover the cauliflower.

👉Pressure cook for 1 whistle.Remove from fire.

👉Release the pressure and again keep the cooker on gas.

👉Allow the gravy to thicken according to your taste preference, check for salt.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

Preparation Time-20 mins.


You can add kasoori methi leaves and fresh cream on top for garnishing.
