Pavakkai Murungaipoo Poriyal | Bittergourd Drumstick Flower Stir-Fry
One of the most healthiest and easiest poriyal (stir fry )variety made with bitter gourd and drumstick flowers (murungaipoo).
Drumstick plant as a whole has numerous health benefits. In Ayurveda it is considered as an "aphrodisiac herb", the flowers have a compound called TERIGOSPERMIN, which helps in increasing the sperm count, prevents erectile dysfunction and increases fertility.
Thus drumstick is also called Indian viagra.

Ingredients
Pavakkai(Bitter gourd)-2 nos chopped
Murungaipoo( drumstick flowers)-1 cup
Onion-1 no finely chopped
Tomato-1 no chopped
Garlic-4 cloves chopped
Red chilly powder-1 tspMurungaipoo( drumstick flowers)-1 cup
Onion-1 no finely chopped
Tomato-1 no chopped
Garlic-4 cloves chopped
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
Jeera-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves few
Salt-to taste
Oil-2 tsps
Method
👉Seperate the flowers from the stalk wash and set aside.👉Add the chopped pavakkai(bitter gourd) and saute well until it is 3/4 th cooked (sprinkle water and close with lid and cook).
👉Now add the turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt.mix well.
👉Add the murungaipoo (drumstick flowers)and saute for 5 minutes .
👉Serve hot.

Note
✍️Usually pavakkai is cooked separately in water with salt and turmeric powder to reduce the bitterness and then the water is drained(but I like the bitterness of it so I have cooked it together ).✍️You can make murungaipoo rasam,kootu, and plain poriyal without bitter gourd too.
