Small Onion Cumin Seeds Chutney

Small onions and cumin seeds chutney 

Small onion(shallots) and cumin seeds chutney /thuvaiyal is a very unique and healthy south Indian chutney variety. This chutney is packed with amazing health benefits like:

Though this chutney has a strong jeera flavour (which some people might not like much ) I recommend you to take this chutney for its medicinal values at least once a week.

Ingredients

Small onions -15-20 nos
Cumin seeds(jeera)-1 tbsp
Urad dal -1 tsp
Ginger -1-inch piece
Garlic -4 cloves
Red chillies -3 nos
Tamarind small gooseberry sized
Salt to taste
Oil -2 tsps

Method

👉Heat oil in a kadai first saute the small onions, ginger, garlic, red chillies, urad dhal, once the onions are translucent add cumin seeds and saute well until nice aroma comes.(Do not burn the jeera)


👉Allow the mixture to cook a bit and then grind to a fine paste along with salt, tamarind and very little water.



👉Serve with idli, dosa, rice etc.
