Paasi Paruppu idli | Moong dal idli

Moong dal idli , Passi Paruppu idli

Did you know you can make idli without using rice?

Yes a very unique sponge soft idli made with moong dal and the best part is you don't need rice for this idli.
It tastes just like our regular idli and is packed with protein , vitamins and minerals.A diabetic friendly idli recipe.
This is my family's heirloom recipe and a long lost dish.

Ingredients

Moong dhal(Paasi paruppu)-100 gms
Urud dhal-100 gms
Salt to taste.

Method

👉Wash and soak the dhals together for 1/2 hour.
👉Grind it like regular idli batter consistency (this batter will be frothy like vada batter).
👉Add salt and allow it to ferment for 8 hours.

👉Take a laddle full of batter and fill the idli plates.
👉Steam it for 7 minutes (just like our regular idli).
👉Serve hot with coconut chutney/tomato chutney/onion chutney.

Yeild-24 idlis.
